Cairnsmore Cottages

2 self-catering cottages on the edge of Galloway Park, at the foot of Galloway's second highest Peak, Cairnsmore of Fleet and offering a fabulous and peaceful location in which to relax and explore this quiet, and often forgotten, corner of Scotland. Both cottages are 250-year old listed buildings, formerly part of the stables and coach houses situated within the quadrangular cobbled courtyard on Cairnsmore Estate, once the shooting estate of the Dukes of Bedford.

Welcome to Cairnsmore Cottages

Arriving at the sandstone viaduct of the private Cairnsmore Estate offers an immediate "get away from it all" feeling.

As soon as you drive through the gates, along the avenue bordered by rhododendron and broad-leaf trees, the surroundings evoke a by-gone time. A clear burn runs alongside and ahead the hills and forests emerge as you approach your destination, Cairnsmore Stable Courtyard.

There is wonderful walking in the surrounding area (highlighted in the Newton Stewart Walkfest) and the footpath to the summit of Cairnsmore of Fleet (2,300 feet) is a short walk from the cottages. The area offers varied interests, both for the outdoor & wildlife enthusiasts and those who enjoy exploring the surrounding market towns and coastal villages.
